Questions and answers

What does Cauchy tell me?
The depth below your survey line to the magnetic or gravity sources under it, with the position of each along the line, a spread, a bound on the top, a comparison and a written opinion. See Reading your results.
Is a depth the depth to ore?
No. It is the depth to a geophysical source, a magnetic or density contrast. Where a body has been drilled, the source can sit away from it.
How sure is a depth?
No confidence grade is issued. The report gives a spread (how well the estimates agree with each other, not with the ground), the figures measured on synthetic sources for your line's geometry, and an opinion for each source. Nothing in it promises how close a depth is to a drilled depth.
Why was my line refused?
Usually the target depth does not suit the line: too shallow for the station spacing, or too deep for the line length. The reason gives the figures to use. See When a line is not processed.
Can I upload a Geosoft XYZ or GDB file, or a grid?
Yes. A grid (ER Mapper .ers with its data file, Geosoft .grd, or GXF) is shown on the map and you draw the lines across it; its cell size sets the shallowest target depth. See Grids.
Can I upload a derived channel, such as a vertical derivative or reduced-to-pole data?
No. Submit the measured field: total magnetic intensity or the vertical component of gravity. A derived channel read as the measured field gives a wrong depth.
My file's coordinates are on a mine grid.
Contact support: we set up the conversion with you, using points known in both grids.
The lines appear in the wrong place on the map.
The coordinate system is wrong. Choose the one your contractor's report names, in step 2. See Coordinate systems.
Why can't I download my results yet?
Every result is reviewed by our staff before release. The job shows in review until then.
How many lines can I submit at once?
Up to 60 in one selection. Each line is one job.
My line has a gap. What is processed?
The longest unbroken piece. The report says which part of the line it covers. Contact support to have the other pieces processed.
Which coordinate system are my results in?
The one set for your organisation, usually the survey's own grid. Every file says which. See The coordinate system of your results.
How do I get my data deleted?
Uploads expire two hours after the last change, and job files are kept for 7 days after their results are released (or after a job stops without results). To delete a job sooner, contact support.
